It sure is interesting. This author goes on about the
lack of "interoperability" while he saying in almost
the same breath that "mutual aid" channels were in
widespread use. Public safety radio planners take note
of something hams have known for years- legacy analog
FM on mutual aid channels is just about the least
expensive/most effective way to implement local
"interoperability", regardless of what you may hear
from various 2-way radio sales people.

The public safety radio equivalent of our own 146.520
and 446.000, these mutual aid channels cost little to
implement, since no expensive infrastructure is
needed. Most everyone already has portable and mobile
radios. It is about time public safety users pick up
on this simple, but forgotten technique.
