Sorry about the late announcement, but I have been a little swamped with
work over the past few weeks.

I just wanted to pass along that the SKYWARN Special Event Day will be held
this Saturday (12/03/05) from 00 UTC to 24 UTC. For us, this is 700 PM
eastern Friday Night (12/2) to 700 PM eastern Saturday Night (12/3).

SKYWARN Recoginition Day was developed back in 1999 by the NWS and the ARRL.
This day celebrates the relationship between the volunteer SKYWARN radio
operators that provide valueable information during severe weather and the
NWS.

The Louisville Office (callsign WX4NWS) plans on operating Friday evening
and then on Saturday morning. We will be operating on most bands including
70cm, 2, 6, 10, 15, 20, 40, and 80 meters. Modes will be Phone, CW, and
perhaps PSK-31 and Echolink. QSL cards will be available as well.
Operators may send a self-addressed stamped envelope to the address below
for QSL cards.

The operating procedures for this event will be as follows:

Exchange: Callsign, signal report, QTH, and a one or two work description of
weather occurring at your station. You may include temperature readings if
you have a thermometer.

QSL self-addressed stamped envelopes may be mailed to

National Weather Service Forecast Office
6201 Theiler Lane
Louisville, KY 40229
