COMMENTS:

Ky District 7 Amateur Radio Emergency Team (KYD7ARET) members
activated 1/26/04 at the request of EMA after a pipeline ruptured
pouring over 64,000 gallons of crude oil into the Kentucky River
about 4 miles from where it meets the Ohio River. KYD7ARET was
cleared at 5:40 AM EST on 1/27.

On January 17, 2005 K4UKH a new 2 meter repeater went on the air
in Lexington, KY. The University of Kentucky has purchased and
installed the repeater for the use of the Fayette County ARES
Medical Facilities program. Its intended use is to provide
communication during emergency activations and during scheduled
drills. When it is not in use during an emergency it is open to
all licensed amateur radio operators to use. The frequency is
147.120 with a tone of 141.3. The trustee and Medical Facilities
coordinator is Tom Mansfield, KG4TND.
