Subject: [KYHAM] Coordinator for SkyWarn @ Jackson, KY ?
As part of Homeland Security (and just sound planning), NWS is spending some
time thinking about "backup" communications and contingency planning.
The "primary" backup for the NWS office @ Wilmington, OH is Jackson, KY (and
secondary is Cleveland.)
We have been asked to look at ways of establishing amateur radio communications
between the offices should the need arise. This is basically what SkyWARN
Recognition Day is about -- but we want to "drill down" to more specifics for
this case.
By surfing the web, it occurs to me that the Kentucky Mountains Amateur Radio
Club is the organization that "manages" SkyWARN for NWS-Jackson. Is that
correct? If so, does anyone have a specific contact person, to whom we can ask
some questions?
