Based on info I have received, I am issuing the following alert
for all districtds in Kentucky.
73,
Ron Dodson, KA4MAP
SEC Ky
By early evening Districts 1,2 and 3 will start to see snow again
with an additional accumulation of 6 to 8 inches. The eastern
parts of districts 2, 3, 4 and possibly 5 will likely see up to
an inch of ice before sunrise tomorrow.
Districts 6, 7, 11, 12, 13 and 14 could see up to 8 inches of
snow by mid morning tomorrow.
Districts 1 through 5 may see blizzard conditions
before morning. Winds will pick up from the North West at 15 to
20 MPH with gust to 30. Districts 8 through 11 will see snow
start shortly after mid-night and snow will continue through all
of tomorrow. These districts can expect 3 to 4 inches of snow by
the time the storm exits the state.
This system is rapidly developing into one the strongest storms
in recent history with record snowfall for Western Kentucky. In
addition the Ice accumulation in districts 2,3, 4 and 5 will
likely down power lines and lots of trees. With the bitter cold
coming into the state late tonight and the
strong winds, everyone working out side this evening should be
prepared to take shelter and be extremely careful.
I would recommend that all ARES, MARS and RACES personnel monitor
local repeaters and simplex frequencies in the event motoring
amateurs become stranded and IF POSSIBLE do not go out as driving
conditions will be poor.
Everyone use caution and be safe!
