I'm looking for lightening protection advice.
I know this can be a religious issue so feel free to respond off list if
you'd rather not start a war :)
Im putting up my first roof top antenna and dont want to get zapped on the
first lightening storm. I plan on using a gable end roof mount similar to
the one pictured here (http://www.skyvision.com/store/mi6000028.html) but
more industrial.
I will be installing a Ringo 2meter 8foot vertical antenna on top of a
short mast attached to the gable roof mount above.
I currently have no external antennas in my hamshack as I've been using
antennas in my attic.
The antenna coax will be coming into my house about 12 inches from my
house ground.
Is it as simple as buying a coax lightening arrestor, mounting it outside
the house, connecting the arrestor to my house ground, plugging coax into
both sides of the arrestor and Im good to go?
ps: I've been trying to find a place that sells the Lightning protection
book put out by PolyPhaser but I'm having no luck finding a seller.
