KY QSO Party 2004 April 24-25
Make your plans for KY QSO Party 2004 on the air next weekend, sponsored by
the Bullitt Amateur Radio Society. It's open to all amateur radio operators
and runs from 1600Z April 24 until 0400Z April 25. Operating modes are CW
and SSB and digital on suggested frequencies. RTTY/PSK QSO's count as
digital entry. Entries will be SSB only, CW only, digital only, mixed, or
ROVER.
Top Dog awards for each of 4 designated KY sectors (each consisting of 30
counties) will be given out in top overall CW, SSB, digital and mixed KY
station as well as for the highest scoring rover station, regardless of area
of operation.
For the KY club accruing the highest overall points a ROVING trophy will be
awarded at the Greater Louisville Hamfest in September. The trophy is
designated as roving because the club only gets bragging rights for the one
year (similar to the gilded antlers of the Great Steamboat Race) and must be
returned to the Louisville Hamfest the following year for presentation to
the new Top Dog club.
This is a great time for Kentucky hams to get on the air. Being an event
during the week of the Kentucky Derby Festival, we have lots to talk about
and can really promote the goodwill of our state and amateur radio. Have fun
and get on the air next weekend, April 24-25, for KY QSO Party 2004.
Rules of the contest and entry form can be found at the Bullitt ARS web site
at www.qsl.net/ky4ky/kyqsopartyrules.html. There is also a link for NA and
