[KYHAM] Simplex Operation

To show my lid tendencies:

Now just as much as I hate to make a comparison to CB radio here anyone that
has ever driven a truck knows that if one needs help he or she goes to
channel 19 not channel 9 which is the FCC designated "emergency use only
channel." If someone needed help all the truck drivers use 19 and most are
willing to help in time of need. If someone tried to call for help on 9 he
or she would get no response as most likely no one will be listening there.

Same for .52 if we stop using it (I know John you can harass me for not
being on in a while but I've been busy) who will be monitoring for an
emergency call? I would think that I would, as a traveler passing through
an area, feel more comfortable hearing some b.s.ing on .52 as I would know
that someone is there. If I heard no one on .52 when passing by somewhere I
might tune around the band to see if I could find a conversation but, to me,
it would be more peace of mind to hear a conversation on .52 than have to
find it.

Maybe the one point we could take from the origonal post might be to make
sure that we give adequate pause between each tx. But from what Ive seen on
.52 I dont think thats a problem (at least yet).

Respectfully,

Leonard, N9URK
