The ARRL recommends that 146.520 be reserved for a national calling =
frequency. While this is just a recommendation and not an FCC rule, I =
feel that we should all use 146.520 as a calling frequency only.
Local folks can find a clear channel a lot easier to ragchew on than a =
fellow ham from out of the area can find some unknown frequency maybe =
with an unknown tone to place an Emergency call.
It would just be good amateur operating procedures to recognize the band =
plans, follow them, and be a Lady or Gentleman when on the air. It =
behooves all of us to use our frequencies, and not to abuse any of our =
privileges, if we do not we may loose them. =20
The amateur service is the only service that is to a great extent self =
licensed, and regulated, this is due mostly to the self discipline, =
knowledge, and courtesy of those who have gone before us, and most of =
the present complement of hams. Think of what is best for the service =
before you key up and let your conscience be your guide.
