The following announcement will appear in the October issue of
QUA/HAMnews. Please pass the information on to anyone you
know who might be interested in this topic, and to those persons
who may have an interest in joining us in our amazingly exciting
hobby.

Remember also, the September meeting is held on the second
Monday since the first Monday is Labor Day. The location of the
meeting is Picnic Shelter No. 2 in Shillito Park on the south side
of Lexington, and the time is 6:00-6:30 PM. Food and beverage
will be furnished by the Club, but you can bring a covered dish
of your favorite recipe.

Bill,

I have volunteered to give a talk on the flash flood
in Frankfort for the BARS club meeting October 6.

Program title: Flash Flood in Frankfort

On August 22, 2003, a slow moving weather cell dropped
5 to 6 inches of rain in 90 minutes on the Stony Creek
watershed, a small tributary to the Kentucky River.
The resulting flash flood illustrates the power of
water. Geologic hazards do not always occur over long
periods of geologic time. The flood brings to light
the need for amateur radio operators to be prepared to
activate at a moment's notice.
