Just read K4LID's note about the passing of Sharon Farmer/AD4RT. Sharon
is the wife of Ernie Farmer, Jr./AD4RU. Ernie is the son of the Ernie
Farmer
who was very active in amateur radio in central Kentucky during the early
years
of the hobby, and was instrumental in forming the present Bluegrass
Amateur
Radio Society. The Bluegrass ARS presents an award each year, in memory
of
Ernie Farmer, to the person or persons who are considered outstanding
amateur
radio operators, and who exemplify the promotion of amateur radio by
being
outstanding citizens in their community.

Though we did not know Sharon well, we are very sad to hear of her
passing. She
and Ernie, Jr., attended the Central Kentucky ARRL Hamfest we held in
Lexington,
August 10. We all extend our heartfelt condolences to Ernie and family.
