[KYHAM] Volunteers needed for Triathlon Communications

On Sunday, September 21 there will be a triathlon in
Lexington, KY on the UK campus.  The triathlon consist
of an 800 yd swim, 20 mile bike ride and then a 4 mile
run.  The swim is in the pool on the UK campus.  The
competitors will mount their bikes in the Tennis
complex parking lot, ride out 10 miles to a turn
around spot on Walnut Hill Rd and back to the same
parking lot and then run throught he arboretum and
back to the parking lot.

The event planners would like to have some help with
communications.  They will need atleast 4 people. 
There will be a radio at the transition parking lot
and this person will be in contact with the race
director.  There will be a person with radio at the
pool, a person at the bike turnaround with radio and a
person somewhere on the run with a radio.  If more
people volunteer there will be a need for
communications with the local police at Man O War and
Armstrong Mill Rd.

Volunteers will need to be on-site at 6:45 am.  There
will be a meeting the friday before the event but it
is not absolutely necessary that all the ham
volunteers attend that meeting.

So far I have 2 people including myself.  I am not
experienced at helping or organizing this kind of
effort.  So, even if you can't be there please let me
know about such things as which repeater would be best
to use, the protocol for using the repeater during an
event, etc.

When I met with these organizers and told them of our
capabilities they were excited to have our help.  So,
let's show them what we can do.
