[KYHAM] New Assistant to the SEC for Ky ARES

It is with great pleasure that I announce the following:

Effective January 1, 2003, Ron Goodpaster, AG4TY, the DEC
for Area 12, has agreed to serve as an Assistant Section
Emergency Coordinator (ASEC) for Ky.  While this is a
position 
not found on the ARRL's list of field appointments, I
feel that we need a second person to be in line to assume a
coordinative role in the event that I am prevented, for
whatever reason, from taking actions in a disaster to
oversee
state-wide ARES response and activity.  Having Ron 
available will give us an unbroken line of succession 
and also allow me to do things with the ARES program    
that one person alone could not manage.

This gentleman brings a good deal of experience with 
him to the position as ASEC. Ron has a long
history of service in leadership roles within KyARES and
even served in a similar "ASEC" capacity under Paul
Mitchell, N4DUE.  Ron also has a background in law
enforcement and volunteer fire service in the state.  I hope
you will all join me in wishing him well in this position. 
I am looking forward to working closely with him in the
coming months to ensure that we have a strong, 
section level leadership in place for you and 
the KyARES program.
