Are you asking a question, answering someones e-mail request for
information, or making a broad-brush statement? Why have you sent out this
e-mail?
Concerning the ARTS repeater, the reasons you give for us PL'ing the
repeater are not entirely true. There are also other aspects concerning the
operation of the ARTS repeater that you are not aware of. Your inference is
that the ARTS machine is now closed. That is NOT the case - the ARTS
machine is open, including the auto patch. Yes, it does take an 88.5 PL to
access the machine, but in no way does that indicate it is a closed machine!
I do not think that the kyham reflector is the place to put information that
has not been cleared through those responsible for the operation of ANY
repeater. I would appreciate it if you would consult with the license and
repeater trustees of the ARTS repeater prior to disseminating ANY
information about the repeater.
If you or anyone reading this message have any question(s) about ARTS, or
the ARTS repeater, please direct them to my attention.

Repeater Trustee, W4CN repeater

Subject: [KYHAM] Louisville ARTS Club Returns PL Tone to Repeater
(8/19/02) ARTS Puts PL Tone Back On Repeater
Although the Amateur Radio Transmitting Society (ARTS) repeater at
147.180MHz was open for quite a while, because of constant
interference it became necessary to once again add the PL tone. There
is another repeater in the southern part of the state which has their
power output the same frequency as the input of the ARTS repeater,
causing tremendous interference. ARTS had been running without a tone
for around two years. The PL is 88.5Hz.
The Bullitt Amateur Radio Society (BARS) repeater at 146.70MHz
continues to remain open with no PL tone. This will remain as long as
there is no major interference. The BARS repeater still uses the
151.4Hz tone out, which can be used to avoid listening to interference
from the Indianapolis repeater or other stray signals on that
frequency.
