[KYHAM] tapping your brain

The only problem I can see would be de-sense or desensitization. I guess
you would have to have good separation on the frequencies. I thought a while
and don't know of anyone using mobile repeaters on UHF and HT's on UHF but I
would think it could be done. What does the city of Louisville use for HT
freqs to their UHF repeater system? I know they have trunked stuff but the
last time I was there they were still using their UHF stuff also. Do they
use mobile repeaters? I bet they do. This may be a place to ask. Sorry I
don't have technical answers. I basically am using my gray matter database
from scanning experience.

> My county has 5 fire departments and they are having problems using their
HT's while on a call trying to talk to dispatch. I have suggested that
they go with mobile repeaters in the fire engines to boost the reliability
of their HT's while contacting dispatch. Problem is that they do not
want 2 radio system like the Kentucky State Police have in VHF HT's talking
to the cruisers then the cruisers sending the information to dispatch.
They are wanting to be able to use their UHF HT's and go through the trucks
and the trucks relay their traffic to
dispatch. Can UHF HT's be used with UHF
mobile repeaters in the trucks (and command vehicles) instead of them having
the VHF problem? I also have discussed the option of them getting more
repeaters situated in the 4 corners of the county and have a voter installed
at dispatch to select the strongest signal to talk back to dispatch.

their own HT.
