At the last Kokomo Amateur Radio Club meeting I agreed to put together an
outline for the Technician licensing class we are planning. Unfortunately I
cannot find my notes from the last time we taught the class.

I know the last time we offered a class it was six weeks long, and the last
class was a review session. Looking at the material it can probably be
covered in four sessions. So I suggest the following outline:

Week 1	Introduction & How to study for the test.
	Week 2	Subelement T1 - Commission's Rules
	Week 3	Subelement T2 - Operating Procedures
			Subelement T3 - Radio-Wave Propagation
Subelement T4 - Amateur Radio Practices
	Week 4	Subelement T5 - Electrical Principles
			Subelement T6 - Circuit Components
			Subelement T7 - Practical Circuits
Week 5	Subelement T8 - Signals and Emissions
Subelement T9 - Antennas and Feed Lines
			Subelement T0 - RF Safety
	Week 6	Review

The book we used last time was ARRL's Tech Q&A.

We also discussed how to promote this class to boys and adults involved in
Boy Scouts. I suggest we start the class just after the Merit Badge Can-Do
that is scheduled for January 7, 2006 in Kokomo. I plan to teach the Radio
Merit badge that day. With some help we can put on a demonstration of radios
that will more than meet the requirements for the merit badge, and get
Scouts excited about earning their license. I am trying to make sure boys
have the opportunity to earn Electricity, Electronics, and Radio Merit
Badges that day. This would provide a good start on preparing for the
Technician test. We should also have the study books for sale the day of the
Can-Do.
