I am working on obtaining some military QSL cards from AK. What I need
are Amateur QSL cards sent from a military units ham call as a
confirmation of an amateur contact.
I have these:
Shemya KL7FBI, Adak NAS KL7AIZ, Galena AS KL7FBK, Eielson AFB KL7FAF,
Kodiak CG KL7HKX.
I need to get either a card from these locations or a good color copy
perhaps.
King Salmon AFS, Clear AFS, Ft Wainwright, Richardson and Ft Greely
Please look through your QSL collections and if you have extras of one
or can color copy it I would appreciate it.
The end goal is to frame and hang these cards as a Military Historical
Display in the JBER Station.
If you have other Military unit cards from Alaska I would love to get
those as well. Ones from Attu and Dutch Harbor before or after the war
are really rare. There were military weather/communications functions
on the Islands before and after war.
The Navy and Army had stuff scattered all over after WW2. Most are now
long gone. Am trying to rescue that history.
During the war of course no amateur communications were allowed (or
nearly none). But after the war when it was again allowed many outlying
units used Ham Radio as distraction to everyday life in the field.
