Greetings from the deep, wet south.

 

I'm sitting here listening to the nets on 40 meters with all the traffic
passing in support of the hurricane.  In fact, there's a message from the
President of the US being held for the Mayor of New Orleans.  

 

Lots of activity, but there's problems trying to reach the two EOCs that are
apparently open in New Orleans, or any station there for that matter.

 

Here in northeastern Mississippi, we had some trees down and some minor
damage to a couple of buildings here on the base.  There are some scattered
areas without power here, and we lost power on base for a couple of hours,
but that was about the extent of it.  Phones are also out in certain areas,
but we're good on the base.  Cell phone is mostly out too.  We received 5.3
inches of rain.  What was left of the eye passed just about right over us.
