[Kenwood] TS-50 Buttons

Working on fixing the poorly functioning pushbuttons on my TS-50 I have 
removed the front panel from the front control assembly. There is some 
king of foam which used to keep the buttons in place in the panel. This 
foam has deteriorated the buttons will not stay put in their holes in 
the panel. I can imagine a couple of possible solutions. I wonder what 
other people have done to fix this problem?
