[Kenwood] Kenwood TS-830S no tune on 160m

Still working pretty good here except last night on 160m I noticed the plate
current was about 100mA
no matter what I did with the plate tuning knob. Started a qso with my pal,
and on my 1st long transmission
about 3 minutes in the 6a fuse blew.

I put a new one in and noticed I had my keyer plugged in to the back of the
riggs key jack. I took that out,
and was able to tune with the usual 150mA plate current I always see. Made
several long transmissions, no problem.

So was the fact I had the key in the jack causing the plate current to be
limited? I know when you tune in cw with a key
in there, you need to hit the send button on, which I believe I did, but I
guess I was not really tuning up without keying the keyer.
So I was transmitting under the impression I had tuned for max, but
meanwhile since I didnt check the plate current with it keyed,
and I made a ssb transmission, I was probably drawing too much plate
current.

I guess an "operator error" in my excitement there.

My pal also noticed my fan was getting pretty hot and said the fan in these
hybrids is quiet, but works very slowly and
runs on a 100v winding on the power transformer and he said I may get better
results moving it right to the 115V AC
input wiring which I think I will try one day as it will probably make the
fan work better...though perhaps it may become more noisier.
