[Kenwood] TS-950S Computer Control Stopped Working

I have been trying to interface my TS-950S to HRD using a USB device featuring a FTDI chip. My Windows 10 system sees
the interface as COM 3 and it appears to be working correctly. However, when I try to connect the computer to the
TS-950S, HRD fails to connect and I gat an error message saying: "Cannot read frequency".

I have tried about all the combinations of port settings I can imagine with the same non-results. I am thinking the
problem is in the TS-950S. I used the A=B/Power CPU reset on the TS-950 but that had no effect.

Any thoughts from fellow Kenwood users?
