Although I know nothing at all about the TS-2000, in most cases with which I am familiar, 
one must 1) turn OFF any speech-processing, and 2) adjust the mic gain very low to keep 
the ALC reading at least mid-scale or lower. This works with my TS-940 and my Yaesu 
FT-890.
