[Kenwood] Question: TS-2000 with HF Amplifier and Tuner

Hi Folks....

Regarding the no MFJ tuner mentioned in Dave's reply below, I would like to
input that I have used an MFJ VersTuner III 1.5 KW (MFJ-962C) with a
Heathkit SB-200 amplifier at 600 watts RTTY for over 20 years with no
problems at all.
At times, depending upon which band being used, I may use the internal tuner
of my Knwd 950SDX so that it sees a 'nice' match to the amplifier because
the amp is a little finicky internally on some bands, like 10 & 15.

The MFJ tuner does a bang up job matching the amp to a dipole or G5RV.

I've used many MFJ products over the years and my equipment is probably now
antiquated, so it's entirely possible that today's quality control at MFJ
has suffered a little.

Nope....I don't work for them nor any electronic company......just stating
my experiences.

Cheers....

Darrell,
VA3DG/VE3DDG

Correct.....When using the amp, leave the tuner turned off. The rig is
looking into the amp's tuned input.
Now, for the amp.....
How bad is your match?
The amp has a "for real" pi network, so it can handle some mismatch.
Either the amp can handle it, or you need another antenna.
If you want to incorporate a tuner...put it between the antenna and the
amp.
Make sure it can handle the amp's output, so nothing MFJ in this case.
