[Kenwood] TS-870S HELP

Sounds like SWR is not causing your problem.    First, check the radio with 
a GOOD, accurate wattmeter and a GOOD 50 ohm dummy  load, and check all 
bands.   The wattmeter in the radio is only as  accurate as its alignment (or 
mis-alignment).   If the power is  100 watts on some bands and a lot less on 
others, the finals are probably  OK, but there may be an issue with 
alignment, or possibly one of the  relay-switched low pass filter sections may have 
a problem.   It's  been years since I've been into a TS-870, but there's 
probably an ALC level  adjustment pot INSIDE the radio where you set the 
MAXIMUM available output  level, with the front panel controls (mike gain, carrier 
level) set at  maximum........this will limit the output to a safe level 
(typically 100 watts)  on all bands.   Not sure if this is the case with the 
TS-870, but  quite a few radios of that era also have a switch inside the 
radio that will  limit the output power to something well below the 100 watt  
spec........typically 10, 25, or 50 watts.   Some of the newer radios  have 
this done via a setup menu step instead.   If you don't have  a service 
manual, see if you can find one.   This will make things a  lot easier than 
relying on just the operation manual that came with the radio  when it was 
shipped new.   Finally, check the power supply and  cable.   I've seen many 
otherwise good radios and power supplies  interconnected with wire that was not up 
to the task........heavy gauge wire  must be used here to avoid voltage 
drops, which could cause low  power.   You should have at least 13.0 to 13.5 
volts DC present at the  power socket on the back of the radio while it is 
keyed and drawing 20-25 amps  of current, which may be required at the 100 watt 
output level.   Good  luck.

I have several other radios working fine  with antenna with full output.
I don't understand how to use the Kenwood as  far as increasing the out 
put.
Asked several times previous, but no  help?
