I had the same issue with one of my TS-850S radios. I modified both of mine to have the fan run continuously. I installed an 8.0V, three terminal regulator to run the fan on 8V. Nice and quiet and the radio stays cool, even over an entire DX contest weekend.

Subject: [Kenwood] Kenwood TS930 Power Supply Fan not turning on

My TS930 power supply motor does not turn on.  After about 45 minutes operating SSB at 100 watts, I cannot touch the rear corner of the cabinet at the power supply area, because it is to hot.

Is there  a mod out there to fix the drive circuit or thermistor?  OR The schematic says the TS930 fan motor supply voltage is 10.3VDC.  Was thinking to disconnect the motor from the TS930 circuit and running a 9VDC "wall wart" to the motor that would allow me to turn the fan on separately when needed.  Any thought form all you good folks?
