[Kenwood] TS-850 Audible Whine

The radio itself has a fan unit.

If there is a constant whine, check to see if it is where the whine is 
coming from.

IF that is it, use a ball bearing 12VDC CPU fan to replace it.

Second possibility.  (I've run into this also.)  The ATU motors have a 
bushing that can cause issues.  Lube it.

Check the coupling between the ATU drive motors and the rotating capacitor.

I've had that be loose, and cause grief.  It uses a tiny metric setscrew.

Tightened mine, lubed the coupling, and all is well.
