[Kenwood] TS-940S Linear Control Relay, Voltage and Current

Hi Dennis, 

I couldn't find the spec's and couldn't remember how I used to do but I
thought I had used an intermediate relay. 

I've owned this 940 since new in 1989 however but it had been largely unused
from the time I bought an ICOM 756PROII then went to the ICOM 7700 with the
big attraction being the DSP filters and spectrum display. I finally
realized that I had too much radio and went back to just using my very nice
940 and 30L1!

I built up a small switch box last night with an intermediate 12 volt low
current miniature relay and it works perfectly. I then recalled I had used a
reed relay before which draws hardly any current so all is resolved now.

Not sure but I don't think you can key a 30L-1 directly with a TS-940S. The 
Heathkit SB-220 has a 120VDC keyed line and that is too much for the 940. I 
use a Harbach Soft-Key (their model SK-220) in this set up. You might 
contact them about your application.
