[Kenwood] MC-60A

MC60 and MC80 microphones do not need batteries when hooked to Kenwood 
equipment. They get their power from one of the pins on the connector. 
However, you still need to turn the switch on for the mikes to properly 
work, as the switch controls whether on battery or not. If output too 
much, then one will need to set the level using the internal control on 
the microphone.

No where in the directions of the mic does it say this? My friend is using one on a TS-2000 without batteries and when he throws the switch he gets louder!!!! It is weird to me that this fact is not written in the directions?
