[Kenwood] Problem with 9 pin socket

I had an electrical spike earlier this summer and my puter will no 
longer read the frequency information from my radio. I have been 
using Ham Radio Deluxe and all aspects were working fine. Now, the 
program will not read the frequency. I borrowed a friends radio and 
his works fine so I know that it's a problem in the 9 pin connector 
of the radio.

If anyone out there has had this type of problem I'd certainly like 
to know how you fixed it and the overall procedure.
