[Kenwood] need advice on kenwood twins 599a

Hi Dale,

I think Pete is right. I have the plain 599 twins. An insect crawled in
behind the dial on my transmitter and i took it apart to clean that out.
I just loosened the screws and the knob came right off. Don't apply very
much force trying to get it off or you will probably ruin some more
parts elsewhere in the dial mechanism.

I haven't looked in mine lately... Do you have access behind the panel
to the other part of the shaft. If you apply force to the knob the shaft
has to be adequately supported to avoid further damage. Then try to
twist the knob while you apply some pressure to pull it of the shaft -
sorta like trying to unscrew it from the shaft. If you can get it off
that way be sure to clean up burrs inside the knob and on the shaft.
That approach has worked for me on other equipment.
