[Kenwood] Kenwood TS-130S

Hello group,
I just acquired a TS130S,and it's kinda rough, but receives.  The volume pot is pretty bad, and will need to be replaced if deoxit won't take care of it.  It has some type weird mod I have not gotten into yet, with a small switch and wire coming out of the calibration hole in the back.  Can't hear any calibrator signal either.  

I downloaded the 130SE manual from the kenwood site.  What is the main difference in the SE and the S?  Also, anybody have some good advice for me before I start taking the cover off?
