[Kenwood] Odd fault

Hi

A few years ago I read on the forum a case of the microphone earth return
being burnt out on the I.F.pcb board of a Kenwood TS850 and it was thought
to have been caused by current being passed into the microphone's negative
then to earth by the metal shroud on the microphone plug, when the
microphone was plugged into the rig. My brother's rig has this fault. Can
anyone remember the cause of this occurring?

I think possibly Cliff Holland put something out about this so if you read
this Cliff I would pleased to hear from you.
