> Anyone familiar with the Kenwood SW-2000? Finally have 3 couplers and getting ready to put it in service in my shack...does it require 12V for all functions to operate correctly? Before I apply 12V to it, somewhere (eham?) I've read the 12V in power jack is wired backwards with the center pin - and the shell + ? Is that true? Anything else I should know about the SW-2000?

Hello Warren- I have a Kenwood SW-2000 and the power jack is
definitely reversed to normal. The outside sleeve is positive. After
mine arced to ground a couple of times I took a Dremel tool and (with
a couple of slices and jumpers) reversed the annoying thing.
I elected to use the desk 12 volt supply to power mine. If you use a
wall wart, watch the maximum voltage since Kenwood states "Do not
apply a DC voltage greater than 15V" and further specs the SW-2000 as
requiring 11-15 VDC at 100 ma.
The wall wart route would not be likely to create any problem with
being reversed.
