[Kenwood] TH-F6A/TH-K2 VOX and digital modes

Has anyone on the list tried the Kenwood TH-F6A or Kenwood TH-K2AT on soundcard digital modes?  I notice that both of these HTs have built in VOX, and am wondering if they could be hooked directly to the line out jack on a soundcard and then let the internal VOX key the rig (instead of using a USB or serial port).  Has anyone tried this on these HTs?  Does it work?  Or has anyone tried the normal interface route for digital modes-and how well does the audio from the soundcard do going into the mic jack on the HT?
