Kurt,

Check this link:

http://members.cox.net/kb1gw/850-mods.htm

Near the bottom is a simple interface that's known to work quite well. It only requires one resistor and a 5v zener (plus connectors and wiring).

A better interface will do level conversion on all the lines - typically with a MAX232 or similar IC. Use the pin-outs from the previous link and a data sheet for the MAX232 series to determine correct wiring.

And, one last alternative...PIEXX has pre-built optically isolated converters for $60. It can be found here:

http://www.piexx.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=7&products_id=23

Best if you have serious RFI or want a commercially built unit (or if you're just lazy, hi).

Subject: [Kenwood] OmniRig

I am using Kenwood TS850S and want to use the OmniRig program by VE3NEA to control the rig.
The Ts850S Instruction Manual tells me to use the ACC1 connector and the optional IF-232C interface which I do not have.
I want to do my own interfacing, but do not know the internal wiring for the ACC1 connector.
Can anyone help me with this problem???
