Hello Kurt,

The TS-850S manual on page 47 paragraph 4-18-1 shows the pin outs of the ACC1 socket.

Pin 1 - Ground
Pin 2 - TX out
Pin 3 - RX in
Pin 4 - CTS (Clear To Send)
Pin 5 - RTS (Request To Send)
Pin 6 - NC (No Connection)

A TTL to RS-232 interface will have to be obtain (FIF-232) or build one using either opto isolators, transistors, or the MAX232 IC chip and connected between the radio's ACC1 socket and the computer's RS-232 serial port. The TTL side of the interface is connected to the radio's ACC1 socket while the RS-232 side of the interface is connected to the computer's RS-232 serial port. Never connect the computer's RS-232 serial port directly to the radio's ACC1 socket as permanent damage to the radio's ACC1 serial port will occur.

Pin 2 is the radio's serial port data transmit pin (data from the radio to the interface)

Pin 3 is the radio's serial port data receive pin (data from the interface to the radio).

Pins 4 and 5 can simply be connected together either at the radio or the interface. Connected these two pins together would be easier done at the interface.

The computer's serial port should have it's hardware flow control turned OFF. The computer's operating system's default setting for serial port flow control is set for HARDWARE. To turn the computer's serial port flow control "OFF", right click on "MY COMPUTER" and select "PROPERTIES". When the window opens select the "HARDWARE" tab then click on "DEVICE MANAGER". When the Device manager opens click on the "+" on "PORTS (COM & LTP) then right click on the com port you will be using (COM1 or COM2) and select "PROPERTIES". When the comport's Properties open, click on PORT SETTINGS and click on the FLOW CONTROL drop down and select "NONE". Click "OK", click the upper right "X" on the DEVICE MANAGER window, and OK on the PROPERTIES. That's all there is to it.

Again, DO NOT directly connect the computer's RS-232 serial port to the radio's ACC1 socket.

I am using Kenwood TS850S and want to use the 
OmniRig program by VE3NEA to control the rig.
The Ts850S Instruction Manual tells me to use the 
ACC1 connector and the optional IF-232C interface which I do not 
have.
I want to do my own interfacing, but do not know 
the internal wiring for the ACC1 connector.
Can anyone help me with this 
problem???
