[Kenwood] Kenwood 480 SAT and stepp-ir Y cable

Hello. I want to use my 480 with Kenwood's free control software in combination with my Stepp-ir with the built in interface that's in the Stepp-ir control box. I'm trying to use a Y cable I bought fromStepp-ir to do this. I can control the radio from the PC. but when everything is connected the antenna no longer retunes when I change frequency. If I connect the rig directly to the antenna controller it works so I don't think the cable is at fault. Does anyone else out there have a stepp-ir and this rig? I called Kenwood's teck support, but Leo is arrogant and of course offers no support at all.
