[Kenwood] TS830S tuning rate question

I am helping to sell some equipment for a SK estate
and had a chance yesterday to test out a Kenwood
TS830S.  That is one rig I have always thought about
getting, and I must admit that it has a great receiver
on it, and very nice sounding audio.  

Now here is the problem-the VFO tuning rate was way
too fast for my preference.  I don't think I would
comfortably go through a band looking for stations at
that rate.  Is there a way to slow down the tuning
rate?  

I am glad I had the chance to play with a TS830 so I
discovered this before spending any money on one.  I
used to have a set of Kenwood Twins (which I loved)
and I don't remember the tuning rate being that fast
but it could be selective memory.
