An update on this problem.......
Clif (AVVID) suggested a problem with the PIEXX connection (related to
PLL).
The TS930 started working on all bands after removing the top cover. The
specific pin or connector was not identified. I pressed each connector and
assured clearance on all cables.
Thanks, Jim

Subject: [Kenwood] TS930 Receive Frequency offset by 500Khz
First indication of trouble was that the TS930S didn't hear signals on 20
meters.
I checked all bands using an HP8640B Signal Generator. Results with RF
gain full on and audio gain at 1/4 full scale:
a) copy signals on 160, 80 and 12 meters down to -130dbm or better.
b) all other bands required signal levels around -30dbm
By accident, I found that the defective bands actually had normal
sensitivity to signals 500Khz off the set frequency.
Here are the readings vs HP8640B settings:
HP8640B Freq TS930S Freq Copy signals @
6600 khz 7100 Khz -125dbm
10625 khz 10125 khz -140dbm
14600 khz 14100 khz -135dbm
18600 khz 18100 khz -130dbm
21600 khz 21100 khz -135dbm
28600 khz 28100 khz & -130dbm
28600 khz
This unit has been upgraded with PIEXX digital board replacement.
I'd appreciate thoughts and advice on solving this problem.
