[Kenwood] TS-940 build date

Howdy,

I was looking at a nice TS-940 today at a hamfest.  The serial number 
started 708xxx .  If the 940 follows the conventional Kenwood format, that 
should be correspond to August of 1985...very early in the production run. 
I think 940's were introduced in 1985.  Is this correct?  Anybody know for 
sure when they were introduced and what year they were discontinued?
