[Kenwood] RE: 950 problem.

No problem with your answer and I appreciate your second response.  But
what happened to my first post is so typical of what happens on almost
every Internet reflector.  Someone asks an honest question to which he
or she seeks an answer, and after one or two serious responses the
entire thread gets derailed.  It's something that a moderator should
control but I do not recall if this reflector is moderated.

In my case, the first answer I got indicated the possibility of a
service bulletin that addressed my issue, and after a search of the
Kenwood site I may have found the answer.  But all of the other posts
got hung up on the fact that I said I got 200W out of the radio.  I have
no problem with someone pointing out to me that 200W is not normal.
That I appreciate.  But geeze, do we have to beat that to death?  In
fact I may have read the wattmeter wrong and it may have been less, I
don't know, and I don't care.

Guys, I either own, or have owned, 440's, 830's, 850's, 870's, 940's,
480's and TS-50's.  I'm pretty familiar with Kenwood radios and what
they can or cannot do.  But admittedly I am not familiar with the 950
and sought the advice of those of you on the reflector who own them and
could give me some guidance about the operation of the 950.  My question
had to do with the ramping problem I saw and whether that was normal.  I
believe only two respondents mentioned my original question.  Many of
the other posts seemed to suggest that I, or the actual owner of the
rig, was some dimwit or miscreant who doesn't understand how to operate
the rig.  In fact the rig came to my father-in-law used and neither he
nor I were ever inside that radio.

All I can say is heaven help some newbie ham who posts a question like
mine on here, or for that matter, on many of the other amateur radio
reflectors.  They would no doubt turn around an run rather than get
eaten alive by the sharks!

My thanks to Bud, KV7G for his intial reply that sent me off in what
hopefully is the right direction, and to K9RB for his essay on the
various 950 models which helped me understand a great deal more about
the 950.
