[Kenwood] TS-950S Question

It is possible on many radios to go inside or into the hidden menus and turn up (or down) the power. I would guess that you could turn the 950 up to 200 watts, but I wouldn't really recommend it.  The TS950SDX does around 150-160 from the factory-going to 200 watts wouldn't make a noticable difference on the air, but would stress the components much more, and also would hurt the transmit IMD, making a dirtier signal.  The QST review makes it sound like the final transistors in the TS950 could handle this power level, but why risk it.

I recently picked up a Yaesu FT100D that had the power turned up on HF to 150 watts, and the SWR cutback changed also so it was putting out full power into a 2.5:1 or so load. And people wonder why some blow the finals in those rigs.
