stay with that service center at Va Beach. They do the job right and the turn around time is outstanding. Ed WD9DVA

Hey Guys and Gals,
I've been having great difficulty getting International Radio Service
Division to respond to my e-mails and telephone calls. Have any of
you had the same problems?
They have had my Kenwood TS-940 since December 1, 2006. My last
e-mail from them was April 6th when I was told me that the repairs
were completed and they would e-mail me the billing
information! Twenty-five days later, I have heard something. Like
my previous inquires, My e-mails have gone unanswered. When I do get
through on the telephone, I end speaking to their answering
machine. The promised call back never occurs!
BTW: the old International Radio and Computers, Inc./Fox Tango has
been sold. The crystal filter and performance enhancements part of
the business went to firm called International Radio (INRAD) while
the service portion of the business was taken over by the
International Radio Service Division. INRAD and International Radio
Service Division are two separate companies. I believe that INRAD is
located on the West Coast while the International Radio Service
Division in located in Fort Pierce, Florida.
I have contact INRAD regarding my situation. They have been very
responsive, but are powerless to resolve my problem!
Tom,

Hi Ed,
Typically, I get a busy signal. When I do get through, I am
connected to an answer machine. You know the routine, "at the tone,
please leave you message"!
What really has me perplexed is, if the 940 is repaired, why don't
they bill me for "their services"?

Hello David,
This is bad news! Hope I used a different company! The outfit I
shipped my rig to was:
International Radio Service Division, Inc.
1118 Raymond Ave.
Fort Pierce, FL 34950
URL:http://www.qth.com/irsd/repair.html#background
I, mistakenly, thought this was International Radio/Fox-Tango.

I don't like this web site....if you read some of the satisified customers comments, what hams talk like that....."it is going like a Japanese house on fire!" and what is up with no callsigns...I was just looking at the palstar site for a transmatch and every comment was by a ham with callsign listed.
I don't want to be the voice of alarm but, this all sounds fishy to me!!
Best of luck in getting your equipment back...

Thanks Mike,
I did a Google search as you suggested and found that other Hams have
had the same trouble as I have. Basically, they report that the
Outfit doesn't communicate well and that they are very slow. The two
set mention were in the shop 9 months and two years! I might be
lucky, they only had my set since December 1st 2006!

Doing a little poking around the internet, looks like the owner is a Mark
Thomas, N4FMC. Doing a telephone directory search shows that his home
address and work address are the same. Likewise only one voice telephone
number is listed, which is the same as on the web site.

I sent my radio to them several years ago, had a lot of trouble
communicating, it took a few months, but I did get a good job. The guy I
communicated with was Mark Thomas. I think he is very undermanned, if not
just a one man operation. At that time,
they (he?) only answered the phone on Tuesday and Thursdays from 2:30 to
5:00 PM,
due to work load, the rest of the time it was a machine, and they never
bothered to call backas I recall. The phone at that time was
561-489-6302. They
also had a fax 561-466-0248 which I used some, and as I recall worked
better. For some reason, people pay more attention to a fax than an email..
They were very slow with emails. I also have another number which I don't
remember exactly what it is for, 561-489-0956. This was some time ago
however, so they may have changed all of this. Doesn't hurt to try. I
don't think you have any worry about not getting the rig back. I have used
him twice with good results. Good
luck, Jab K5CNZ
