Richard,

I work on some of these newer cars and there is an awful lot of 
communication between the PCM and the other systems. By all means do 
contact GM. The alternator on most new vehicles GM in particular, are 
now controlled by the PCM (Powertrain Control Module or computer) now. 
Yes, there are many other systems in the cars now that are also 
controlled indirectly by the PCM, they all talk to it. Those nice fading 
interior lights, climate control, other silly things like ABS and those 
pesky air bags are a few that come to mind.

GM probably has a fix for it, since they are suppling the large SUV's to 
PD's, SP's, and other govt agencies (Note the most famous lately here in 
NJ, uses them, black with hidden lights and sirens, I have passed me 
many times by these black high speed trains). Think about it would they 
tolerate noisy communications equipment in their vehicles?

The very worst that can happen from trying to resolve the problem is 
letting the factory installed smoke out of something and voiding the 
warantee on the vehicle, and Eric is correct document everything!
