[Kenwood] TM261 -2007 GMC Alt noise

Richard,

Before doing anything to the truck, your friend should contact the GMC
Regional Manager and request assistance for two-way radio applications.
That vehicle is under warranty, and GMC should have first crack at any
solutions.  While I personally know what filters and techniques would
probably cure the problem- as do many other readers of this list- it is not
prudent to charge into suggested solutions without involving the vehicle
manufacturer.  Get everything in writing, not verbal advice.  Your friend
should keep a written record of every conversation he has with GMC people.
What with the many electronic system on modern vehicles, such as engine
controls, automatic braking systems, etc., he definitely does not want to
modify the charging system without GMC's blessing!  Even if the solution
seems obvious, let GMC give your friend written direction.

A friend of mine has mounted his TM261 in his new 2007 GMC truck and has
not been able to eliminate the alternator noise after trying most suggested 
fixes.

Connecting directly to the battery  and grounding everything possible in 
many ways.

The alt is the 145 amp unit.

Does any one have a fix?
