[Kenwood] Sherwood Engineering and DSP

Seems unfair to compare a mobile radio to a base station radio. If you want
a base station radio, buy one and if you want a mobile, buy one. I don't
care if your 18 wheeler will carry more than my Porsche.

The 706MKIIG is one of the noisiest radios I have ever
used, and it is really bad on the low bands. Haven't
used a 530, but I would bet it is quite with no
synthesizer and no general coverage receive, which
means you can put tight band pass filters in it. Wish
we would go back to radios with no general coverage
receive and no autonotches.

Never used a 440 either, but did have a 430 and now
have a 690. Very good receivers. The 690 has
impressed me under contest conditions-excellent
receiver.
