I am not familiar with the 252g but I tried running the 850 off a ten 
tec linear supply, the one that was sold to power an Omni VI.  (can't 
remember the model number sorry.)  I believe that amp was rated at 20A 
max and I'll tell you, Ten Tec did not give any headroom.  The 850 
repeatedly tripped it off on voice peaks.  I quit it, and went to the 
Astron, which besides plenty of current also gave the 850 a solid 14.5 
v.  The 850 was much happier.  I'm not necessarily knocking the ten tec 
p.s.--it did what it was designed to do, which was power the Omni VI 
with no trouble (but I was surprised it did not tolerate a momentary 
draw slightly above 20A).
