I think processor should be off.  But adjusting vr7 may not be 
necessary.  As Kenny said, I am also certain that the 850 has a switch 
or some sort of adjustment inside that limits power to 50 and maybe 75 
watts.  I think it is supposed to be used to protect some types of 
linear amps or perhaps in some countries those are the power limits for 
some classes of license.  If that is not the problem, you may have 
aggressive ALC limiting your output because the rig is getting RF back 
into it and that causes a false positive for the ALC circuit.  I have 
run into this with both my 850 and 870.  one thing that surprisingly 
made a difference here was removal of the ground strap to the rig.  
Ferrite chokes on the mic cord  at the connector and a line isolator at 
the back of the rig on the feedline  helped.  but before you go off on 
this, put the rig on a dummy load and see if it behaves differently.   
You will probably get some comments that 20 w. is not a noticeable 
difference but I disagree with that because A.  you paid for 100 w.  
and you are entitled to get that performance, and  B. if you are 
driving a pair of 3-500s you need a full 100 w. to fully drive the amp.
