[Kenwood] TH-F6A receive

My Kenwood TH-F6A HT doesn't seem to have as good of
receive as several other HTs I have owned (VX2R, VX5R,
VX7R, T81A), especially on the FM broadcast band and
some areas of 2 meters. Stations than come in full
quieting on the Yaesu or Icom HT can be scratchy on
the Kenwood, and they don't move the S meter near as
much. Does the F6a just have a less sensitive
receiver, or will changing antennas help alot? I am
not interested in a 17 inch long antenna because that
is just not practical to use on an HT. Something the
size of the stock antenna or a little smaller would be
fine. So, if I spring for the cost of another
antenna, will I get better receive, or is that just
the nature of the F6A?
