[Kenwood] TS-450S and Rigblaster in true FSK mode

I'm new to the reflector, so I apologize if this topic has been covered
before.

I'm having a problem trying to use a Rigblaster Plus with a TS-450S in
FSK mode. I'm using MMTTY. I've got everything hooked up correctly
into the ACC2 jack. If I manually short the tip of the cable that hooks
into the ACC2 jack, the radio shifts frequency as it should. When I try
to use the Rigblaster, however, the frequency shifts only two or three
times a second when I try to transmit text. It isn't a steady tone.
There is some frequency shift. It's just very, very slow. The
Rigblaster has an LED that flickers whenever a frequency shift is
supposed to happen, and in fact, it's flickering as it should. That
indicates to me that the Rigblaster is getting what it's supposed to be
getting through the serial cable. It seems like for whatever reason,
there's some kind of problem with the Rigblaster being able to short and
unshort the cable going to the radio.

I sent my Rigblaster back to the factory, and they said it performed
perfectly when hooked up to an ICOM 706. Kenwood says that if the radio
shifts frequency when I manually short the plug, there's nothing wrong
with the radio.

So, it would appear I'm stuck in the middle. I'm about ready to box up
my radio and send both it and my Rigblaster back to the Rigblaster
people and let them have a go at it. Short of that, does anybody have
any suggestions? Has anybody run into this sort of thing?
